Dr. Cheung holds a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philosophy in Philosophy from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She specializes in Chinese language teaching, modern literature, and Hong Kong literature. Currently, she serves as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at CUHK. She has received the CUHK Department of Chinese Language and Literature’s Outstanding Teaching Performance Award and the Faculty of Arts’ Outstanding Teaching Award.
Dr. Cheung’s research areas include Chinese language teaching, modern literature, and Hong Kong literature. Her published works include Whispers Beneath the North Window: A Discussion on Lik-hong’s Works and Margins and Center: On “Hong Kong” in Leftist Hong Kong Novels (1950-1967). She has also edited Awakening Words for the World—Selections from the Diary of a Fool, In Pursuit of Linguistic Truth (co-edited), and CUHK: Landscape and Humanities (co-edited). Additionally, she has annotated The Diary of Yip Ling-fung and an expanded and annotated edition of Lü Lun’s Notes from the Xiangshui Hut.
Dr. Cheung has published numerous academic papers on Chinese language teaching and Hong Kong literature. She has also led various teaching research projects, including From Novel Construction to Transmedia Adaptation: A Creative Project, A Project of Igniting Creativity through Experiential Learning, and Chinese across the Curriculum: collaboration with Colleges and the Office of University General Education.
